World of Warcraft: Forgotten Curses
The Younghoof tribe of the Tauren is one of the most recently recognized by Chieftain Bloodhoof, receiving the accolades for their valiant bravery during the conflicts of the Third War. The Younghoof were once under the umbrella of the Winteroat tribe and their ancestral lands lie in the northern regions of Kalimdor. The Younghoof are so named not only because they are the most recent tribe, but because of the youth of their chieftain Quidel who rallied many older tribe mates to Bloodhoof’s banner as the Third War raged on. Quidel had seen only 23 summers when he approached Chieftain Ujarak of the Winteroat and requested a contingent of warriors to aid Bloodhoof. Ujarak was content to remain passive however and Quidel burned with fury. Seeking out allies amongst his friends Quidel formed his own contingent of 15 warriors. Ujarak learned of Quidel’s plan and burned with anger at his hubris. Quidel and his 15 warriors were cast out of the Winteroat, along with their families. The warriors traveled for many leagues to find Chieftain Bloodhoof and swear their fealty to his cause. Bloodhoof accepted the small contingent of warriors and placed them under Quidel’s command upon the recommendation of Warchief Thrall himself.
Quidel’s 15 soon earned glory and honor on the field of battle, slaying many foes and suffering not a single loss in a number of skirmishes. Quidel’s 15 soon were promoted to more and more dangerous missions on behalf of the Horde and continued to show their prowess. By the close of the Third War Quidel’s 15 had only suffered 2 losses Tenskwatawa of the Open Door and Catehecassa the Black Hoof. Chieftain Bloodhoof was so moved by Quidel’s bravery, loyalty and talent and knowing that Quidel’s followers had no tribe to return to, Chieftain Bloodhoof declared them the newest tribe amongst the Tauren, the Younghoof. Catehecassa and Tenskwatawa were honored with shrines deep in the bowels of Thunder Bluff and the newly formed Younghoof tribe were granted privilege to the lands south of Thunder Bluff.
